Topic Reading-Vol.280-1/16/2013

Dear MEL School’s Topic Readers,
Social media make us more honest.
Do you think you are more honest when you write online or on paper?
Have you ever post a comment under someone else’s or false ID, for your own or someone else’s benefit? For example, a writer could post a positive review for his/her own work, so could a singer for his/her song. It doesn’t sound so surprising to learn about such fake online reviews because they can be done so easily without feeling as guilty as falsifying in person. But when you learn that such falsification is practiced by a government agency to control media and public opinion in a large scale, you may feel a little surprised or even scared.
Enjoy reading and learning what “butler lies” and “sock puppets” are and how they are used online.
