Why millions
of Chinese men are staying single?
Of the total
population of 1.3 billion, approximately 700 million are men in China. Considering
the rapidly ageing nation’s population, this gender imbalance is quite
problematic. As women outlive men by several years or even decades, there are
more women than men in older generations. So, the real problem lies in the 30s
and 40s age groups who are expected to get married and have children. In fact,
there are 15 to 20 more men per 100 women in those family-forming generations.
For men,
finding a suitable woman for him is one thing. In addition to the traditional
match making practices, there are numerous Internet meeting sites and services
available for all generations. But there seem to be other obstacles to overcome
not only for men but also for women. Why?
